Significant Tree Project February 2025

The Significant Tree Project March 2025
CRA launched The Significant Tree Project, a community arts project resulting in a small exhibition in the Galley art space around the end of May.
Fiona Harding, an artist who is passionate about trees, has been asked to creatively develop and manage the project. The process will involve workshops, outings, interviews & discussions, all with a wide range of community input and creativity.
The exhibition may reflect 10 significant trees, their stories, their scientific explanations and their artistic representations and interpretations.

There may be a missing 'eleventh' tree.

There will be the Feature trees and the Humble trees with an intention is to bring forth a greater understanding and appreciation of these assets.
We hope to facilitate an indigenous connection in the early stages of development to broaden the community's understanding of trees from this perspective. We would also like to engage with the council's arborist team to develop an understanding of their practices to enable this project to productively benefit the community.
The project is very much about ‘research and develop' as we go, with the intention to have a very broad community reach and fun!
